Betty Lehman Oppenheimer - September 14, 1919 - August 8, 2011
Got back to Buffalo last night late, and this afternoon around 4:30 PM, mom drifted off in her sleep. It could not have been a more peaceful end.

5:14pm - Monday, August 8, 2011 - Jamie, feel my arms around you right now - my heart is with you and full of love. You and I just hung up the phone after you informed me of your Mother's passing and all of our 19 years together are flooded memories swimming amidst my heavy tears at present. I'll speak with you again soon. In the meantime, as I have said to you many, many times, Betty was so lucky to have such a wonderful, considerate, and loving son. You are not alone -- you will never be without love. xoxoxox ~Shauna Leigh~
I remember, after all these years, what a wonderful woman your Mom was. She was very kind to our family and my grandmother (Nana). I will never forget seeing them at Nana's funeral and it felt good to see them. You had great parents and I am glad to have met them. I am sure, someday, I'll get the chance to say hello to them again.
I am a student of humor with so much to learn. Songwriting is my passion and I have written over 150 songs in the past 30+ years. My influences and the writers I respect include, but are not limited to: Bob Dylan, John Prine, Jon Brooks, Noah Zacharin, Stephen Fearing, Jim Croce, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hart, Harold Arlen, Yip Harburg,Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Warren Zevon, Bono, Randy Newman, and of course, Mars Bonfire for writing "Born to be Wild". There are a LOT of great songwriters and lyricists out there, but I am afraid that much of it is eclipsed by the popular music of today. What I love most about good songwriting and good writing in general is that, if even one song sticks (and sometimes that takes decades to happen), it immortalizes the writer. I want to be remembered when I am gone because I have a huge (if dormant) ego.
